Covid-19 update

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have been forced to postpone all of our ID Clinics in the US.

This doesn’t mean that we have halted our recruitment for September 2020 though, we are still actively searching for students we think can boost our UK-based program.

If you are interested in learning more about our stadium-based soccer and education program, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

You can either email steve@sfsinternational.org or you can book a call by visiting https://sfsinternational.org/schedule-a-call/

Also you can check out what we do and where we are based here.

We offer specialist goalkeeper coaching

Our international goalkeeping recruits have the opportunity to get stuck into specialist goalkeeper training with coach Andy Phillips.

Andy has a UEFA B Goalkeeper and Outfield qualification, a degree in Physical Education and PGCE teaching qualification.
He has been teaching for over 20 years and has run his own specialist goalkeeper schools for nine years.

Scholars claim 2-0 win at i2i

International student Deon Dandrade was in action as a Scarborough Football Scholarship team claimed a 2-0 win on the road at the i2i International Soccer Academy.

Dandrade worked tirelessly as two second-half goals sealed the win.

Josh Bagshaw was on target with the opening goal, taking advantage of a mistake, with Jay Smith Colley pouncing for the second.

Midfielder Josh Linsley earned the man of the match award, while Marshall Nock also impressed in the heart of the defence.

Fixtures announced for International students

The Scarborough Football Scholarship’s Under-23 team will kick off their National Football Youth League campaign at the beginning of next month with an away trip at Carlisle United.

This game on December 7th will be a Scholarship debut in that league, which also contains Everton, Crystal Palace, Barnsley and Tranmere Rovers.

Our international students will be involved in these fixtures, gaining experience against top-quality opposition.

That fixture will be followed by a home game against Barnsley on December 14th.

All of the Scholarship’s home games will be played at the Flamingo Land Stadium.

SFS International sign up former Championship & SPL player Michael Coulson

Michael Coulson, left, is welcomed by fellow Scholarship coach Ryan Blott

SFS International have recruited former Championship and SPL player Michael Coulson in a full-time coaching role.

Coulson, who has had a distinguished career in the game, having played in the FA Cup semi-final for Barnsley, will take up coaching duties on the pitch.

He is currently first-team captain at Northern Premier League side Scarborough Athletic, having played well over 200 Football League games during his career.

Along with Boro coach Ryan Blott, the hugely experienced Denny Ingram, goalkeeper coach Andy Phillips and Scholarship director Steve Brennan, Coulson is keen to push our students forward.

He said: “SFS International is huge for my home town of Scarborough and I am delighted to be a part of it.

“I am really looking forward to getting going in this role, working with players from the US and other countries is something that really excites me.

“Our aim is obviously to help as many of them as possible progress in the game.”

SFS coaches’ busy time

SFS International coaches Steve Brennan and Denny Ingram had a busy visit to the US as we look to further our recruitment for September.

We kicked off at a showcase event in Williamsburg, during which our coaches scouted and spoke to a number of U19 players that impressed them on the day.

They also did the same at another showcase event, which took place in Potomac.

We then put on well-attended ID Clinics at both Lackey High School in Maryland and Mechanicsville in Richmond, VA, both of which were a success.

Our coaches also had an opportunity to attend a careers drop-in session at La Plata in Maryland.

Coach Brennan said: “We enjoyed our second visit back to the States.

“It was the first time we had run ID Clinics and been to showcase events.

“We have learned a lot about the process, met some key figures and ultimately offered 16 places to potential students.”

Baltimore Jan 16-20, 2020

What a fantastic trip we had to Baltimore 2020. Initially we had planned to attend just the United Soccer Coaches Conference at the convention centre for 4 days, however it turned out to be so much more!

The Conference was attended by over 12,000 from all across the globe, dedicated to networking and learning from some of the very best people within the world of soccer. The venue was split into a large exhibition hall and 3 artificial pitches where a whole host of events took place.

On the upper floor there were many conference rooms set up where coaches could attend drop in sessions to learn about topics close to their interest or team.

During the event we were fortunate to meet some of the top people in the game. Denny met Benfica and Brazil legend Luisão and Steve met former Real Madrid assistant manager Paul Clement.

The added bonus to the trip was that a contact of ours in Maryland had managed to set up an I.D Clinic for us to attend. We set off and stopped at the nations capital before heading south to the event which took place at Lackey High School. We had 33 players attend. The attitude of the players was excellent despite some very cold temperatures and it was great to see and get a feel for the amount of soccer that goes on in the states.

What a fantastic time we had. Welcomed everywhere we went and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We are currently planning our next I.D Events so please check out the find out where we will be in the near future.
